Your Newsletter
This Newsletter is going out a few days before August to remind everyone of the 2nd Open Show Saddle Series, August 2nd. Something new at this show is a Paid Trail. Following the Mini-Horse Trail Class, the Trail will be reconstructed for the rest of the Trail Classes. Anyone wishing to practice on the obstacles, riding your horse, will need to sign in with the Trail monitor, and will have a 5 minute practice time on the actual Trail that will be used in your class. There will be a $5 fee. So come on horseback with your class Trail pattern and practice before you are judged.
The CAQHA Youth Clinic held on July 12th was a great success. Clinician, Jamie Elizondo taught Horsemanship in the morning, and Kelly Haydon had the riders working with cattle in the afternoon. Lunch was provided and a great day of riding was enjoyed.
Patti Colbert has graciously agreed for us to have our End-of-the Year Picnic at the Colbert Ranch again this year. The picnic/trail ride/award presentation will be held on Sunday, October 12th from 8-1:00. There will be much more information about this later, but please write this date on your calendar.

THINGS YOU LEARN WHEN YOU OWN A HORSE
- If a dealer insists a horse is worth twice what he is asking he’s usually worth half that much.
- The best way to appreciate how another person rides is to get on their horse, but it can be a quick way to get hurt.
- I can recognize another horse person no matter what town, city, state, county or country I visit
- You can never have too many hoof picks.
- It is not wise to argue with something that outweighs you by 1,000 pounds.
