2010 High Point Award Rules
Purpose: To recognize achievements of Members of the Association
All exhibitors showing for any High Point Awards must be a current CAQHA member. Rules for Reserve High Point are the same, with the second highest overall number of points as below. Points are accumulated at CAQHA 2010 Open Show Series. Must show all 3 shows to be eligible. Horses of all breeds are eligible for the 2010 awards program. Points given for one horse/rider combination. Must show same horse through out the Series to be eligible. These rules and the Point System will be posted at each show.
High Point. High Point ties broken by (1) greatest number of classes entered, (b) most first places, (c) flip of a coin. Series High Point winners are not eligible to win in consecutive years. Exhibitors may win only one series HP award but may qualify for several reserve awards. Should exhibitor win HP in more than one Division, exhibitor will be awarded reserve for second division. Must show in Division each show to qualify in that Division.
Novice Definition applies to the Rider –1) rider must not have won 3 blue ribbons in showing career prior to start of Series. 2) If rider has previously won a Daily High Point Award, Series Award or Reserve Award in ANY division prior to the start of the Series, rider is not eligible to show as a Novice. If you qualify as a Novice Rider and begin showing in the Series as a Novice Rider, you may stay in the Novice Division throughout the Series. Please use the honor system when determining rider status.
Green Horse Definition – a horse of any age that is in its first 12 months of showing. Please use the honor system when determining if your horse qualifies to be shown as a Green Horse.
Age of exhibitor is as of January 1st. CAQHA Board Members and Officers are eligible for all High Point Awards; however, no Board Member or Officer exhibiting or owning a horse that is being exhibited will be involved in any aspect of show planning or management, including but not limited to the hiring of judges, setting patterns, class schedules or determining awards.
Exhibitor must be a CAQHA member prior to first class shown. Payment for membership must be received by CAQHA BEFORE the first class is shown, no exceptions. You may join at the show prior to your first class. There are no minimum point requirements. AQHA class procedures apply to all classes.
RULES FOR SADDLE SERIES: Per division -
Series Western High Point – 19 & Over , 14-18 and 13 & Under – Western – one High Point Series Award (Saddle) will be given for the exhibitor in these age divisions with the highest number of points over the three show series. You must show in at least one Western class in all three shows. These classes are: Western Pleasure Walk Jog, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Trail, Reining. Points earned in the Open, Green or Novice will not count towards the High Point Series Award. Series winners are not eligible to win the High Point Series Award in consecutive years.
Series English High Point – 19 & Over, 14-18 and 13 & Under – English – one High Point Series Award (English Bridle) will be given for the exhibitor in these age divisions with the highest number of points over the three show series. You must show in at least one English class in all three shows. Only points earned in English performance classes will be considered. These classes are: Hunter Under Saddle, Hunter Under Saddle Walk Trot, Equitation. Points earned in the Open, Green or Novice will not count towards the High Point Series Award. Series winners are not eligible to win the High Point Series Award in consecutive years.
Series Halter High Point - 19 & Over, 14-18, and 13 & Under - one High Point Series Award (show halter) will be given for the exhibitor in these age divisions with the highest number of points in Halter or Showmanship over the three show series. You must show in at least one Halter or Showmanship class in all three shows. Only points earned in Halter or Showmanship classes will be considered. These classes are: Showmanship, Hunter in Hand and any Halter class EXCEPT Color classes. Points earned in Novice, Green or Open classes will not be considered. Series winners are not eligible to win the High Point Series Award in consecutive years.
Series High Point Award for Novice Division – a High Point Series Award will be given for the exhibitor with the highest points earned in all Novice classes (excluding Color classes, Leadline and Walk Only), and will not be divided by English and Western events. Must show in all three shows. Please review the Novice definition on the previous page to determine if you qualify to show as a Novice in the Series. If you meet the Novice requirements and begin the Series as a Novice, you may show in the Novice Division throughout the Series.
Series High Point Award for Green Horse Division – a High Point Series Award will be given for the exhibitor with the highest points earned in all Green Horse classes (excluding Color classes, Leadline and Walk Only), and will not be divided by English and Western events. Must show in all three shows. Please review the Green Horse definition on the previous page to determine if your horse qualifies to show as a Green Horse in the Series. If you meet the Green Horse requirements and begin the Series as Green horse, you may show in that Division throughout the Series.
Show Series Awards will be presented to the winners and reserve winners at the CAQHA Awards Banquet in October, 2010.
